Marvin "MoHorns" Thompson is an arranger, producer and  phenomenal trombonist.    Coming from a very musical family, Marvin was exposed to the craft and approach to music on many levels. At a young age Marvin studied with the extraordinary music teacher, James Pope, under this tutelage, he was introduced to understanding of music. Marvin continued his studies under Curtis Pope, musical director for Wilson Pickett and the leader of the Midnight Movers.  
 
Marvin's experience as a traveling musician with the Midnight Movers provided technique with a legendary sound, laying the foundation for his capacity to cross over many styles and genres effortlessly. As a result, Marvin would soon meet Stanley Brown, A&R for Island Def Jam, opening the door for Marvin to perform with many renowned artists such as Dru Hill, Kelly Price and many more that span to pop, R&B, gospel and  genres to include ballads and complex composition styles.   Perhaps one of his greatest achievements is founding along side James Cheeks  the award-winning horn section, Mo' Horns. Over the past thirty years, the group has exponentially grown in popularity throughout the music and entertainment industry and is recognized for what is described as "flavorful and longevity horn arrangements." Their sound evokes elements of authentic brass as well as the free improvisation techniques.    Mo' Horns' musical repertoire includes producing music for broadcasts, television and movies, including commercials for McDonalds and The GAP, the Fox Television Series “Empire”, movie soundtrack, “Think Like A Man Too”, and feature film, “The High Note.   Through Mo’ Horns, Marvin has performed with a number of artists, such as Michael Jackson (Xscape), Janet Jackson (Curtains), Jay-Z, Beyoncé (B’Day), Mary J. Blige, Tracy Ellis Ross, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, Kirk Franklin, Andrae Crouch (Journey Live), Donnie McClurkin, Fred Hammond, Israel Houghton, Bishop T.D. Jakes, Byron Cage, Richard Smallwood, John P. Kee, Donald Lawrence and The Tri-City Singers, Lexi and many more…   When asked about his art and approach to the music, he says,” I want to arrange horn parts that will be a crucial part of the song“!! Marvin is very adept at extending his range and improvising. He is not only a musician but he is also a technician whose sound evokes the very soul of a person.   He is currently working on The Mo’ Horns project and collaboration, to be released in 2020.
