Wilson Wang (XuanYu Wang) is the Associate Principal Trombone of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, the Assistant President of Guangzhou Symphony Youth Orchestra and the founder of Guangzhou Low Brass Ensemble.
He is active as a recitalist, chamber musician and as an orchestral musician, and has performed frequently at the International Trombone Festival. He has been invited to give masterclasses in many cities.
Wilson is an active orchestra performer on trombone. As well as being the Associate Principal Trombone of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, he has also performed as a guest trombonist in the China Philharmonic Orchestra and Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. When he was young, he was the principal trombone of the China Youth Symphony Orchestra, and leader of the China Youth Trombone Quartet.
As the Assistant of President of Guangzhou Symphony Youth Orchestra, he is active in youth education and works hard to help the development of youth wind bands and orchestras.
Wilson began his trombone studies when he was 15 years old with Guo Zheng (Professor of Trombone at the Xinghai Conservatory of Music). In 2003, he entered the Central Conservatory of Music with the Merit Scholarship and started to study trombone as his major with Professor Zhao Ruilin. In 2004, he came to the notice of maestro Seiji Ozawa, who highly commended him for his performance. He completed his studies at the Shanghai Orchestra Academy.
Wilson joined the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra in 2006 and become Associate Principal Trombone in 2012.
